Working in the procurement department, you will support the engineers by making sure stock is always available to them, systems are kept up to date and the company are aware of future trends.
You don't need experience to start, you will gain new skills and knowledge of both procurement and administration as you go - giving you the foundations for a successful career in either procurement or administration.
- Regular stock checking to make sure company has all the kit they need to carry out their work
- Labelling stock and checking for damage
- Inputting receipts and orders onto the company system
- Buying new stock as needed so engineers can complete their work without delay
- Talking to customers and colleagues over the phone and email
- Attend team meetings to understand future stock requirements
- Creating reports to show how stock needs are changing over time
- Arranging meetings with suppliers
- Sending out pre-warning letters to clients who need equipment retesting
You will also spend approximately six hours a week in paid off-the-job training, learning new procurement and admin techniques and tools to help you do your job effectively and improve your confidence at work.

Whilst working in this job you'll also be working towards a Level 3 Procurement and supply assistant apprenticeship. Your training is expected to last 18 months and the cost of this is covered by your employer.
You'll also be supported day to day by the back office team learning loads about purchasing and understanding the process from manufactures and suppliers points of view too.
This is really is a great introduction to a career that can lead to very well paid work with further training, such as a purchasing manager (up to £60k/annum).
During the first six months of your apprenticeship you will be assigned a mentor by Supplytrain CIC. This mentor is on-hand to support you with any queries around work, training or home life. We want to give you the best possible chance to make the most of this fantastic apprenticeship opportunity.
