Job Title: Food Production Operative
Location: Peterborough PE16
Working Days: Flexible working days during the whole week
Shift Hours (During Summer): 7 AM till Finish (12 hours or less)
Shift Hours (After Summer): 8 AM to 5 PM
Pay Rate:

  • Normal Working Days: ?10.42
  • Overtime Rate: ?13.03
  • Bank Holiday: ?10.42 0.50 Per hour

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

As a Food Production Operative, you should

  • Inspect tomatoes for quality, size, and ripeness. Sort and separate them according to predefined criteria, removing any damaged or unfit tomatoes from the production line.
  • Clean and wash tomatoes using appropriate techniques and equipment to ensure they meet hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ensure smooth operation, make necessary adjustments, and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Operate cutting machines to slice or dice tomatoes as required by the production specifications. Follow safety guidelines and ensure proper handling of sharp tools and equipment.
  • Assist in packaging tomatoes into appropriate containers, such as crates, boxes, or bags.

Key Qualifications:

As a Food Production Operative, you should have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum Entry Level English Requirements: Possess the ability to communicate effectively in English at a basic level.
  • Food Safety Qualification: Have the ability to undertake and successfully complete a food safety qualification or certification.
  • Right to Work Documentation: Provide the necessary documentation to demonstrate legal eligibility to work in the UK, such as citizenship, work visa, or other relevant documentation.
  • Be physically fit and capable of carrying out the duties in line with the production requirements. This involves being able to stand for long hours, lift and move objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols. This includes following proper procedures, using provided personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, and reporting any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Display a flexible approach to work and scheduling. Food production operations may require working various shifts, including weekends or night shifts, and being available to accommodate production demands or changes in the work schedule.
